Raised in Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie, Captain Hood spent his early summers crossing into Canadian waters and sailing with his uncle on the Chesapeake Bay. His life has had a delightfully unconventional career trajectory: folk singer, house-builder, real estate salesman, actor, and voiceover artist for radio and television commercials. Combined, these experiences taught him something essential—how to connect with people, how to perform under pressure, and how to tell a story worth remembering. These are the very qualities that make a sail with him feel less like a transaction and more like an experience.

As an ASA Senior Master Instructor Captain Hood has roamed the globe: from the warm waters of the Caribbean to the bustling coasts of China; from the Baltic shores of Poland to a surprisingly vibrant sailing community in Oklahoma. This international experience has given him a unique perspective that confirms a simple, universal truth: regardless of language or latitude, people everywhere share the same deep desires for peace and joy in their lives.

Today, Captain Hood sails his own schooner, Adventurer.
